Darryl's Story
Life - what a concept! ! !
I am still single and loving life; recently bought another house; working as a computer consultant for a local 'distance' university; scuba diver, skier, love to travel. started my own graphics company Dark Sun Graphics. I sell Ravens (unofficial and my own design) sweatshirts and tee shirts. I also put up web sites. I will soon start to sell my photgraphs. I also dabble in real estate. I have bought, rehabbed and sold houses.
The main picture of me is from a recent trip to Cancun, I stayed at a resort that just opened on Nov. 1, 2007. Excellence Playa de Mujeres. All-inclusive. Drank too much tequila. Went drift (scuba) diving and smoked a few Cohibas. Had a great time, a bunch of us went down because some of the guys were celebrating the BIG 50.
Some of you knew me as a geek who got good grades. Not much has changed in that respect. If I won the lottery, I'd go back to school and get my Ph.D in physics. I love science and math. Math is the language of God. I have a BS in Mathematics from Coppin State Univeristy(1988). Working on my Masters in Information Systems. Consulting in PeopleSoft.
I'm not very religious today, some of you knew me as a JW. That was my previous life. Not any more. I am a spiritual being who is here to enjoy the human experience. Which I am doing to the utmost of utmost-tivity. Religion is a social exercise where we meet regularly with people who believe as we do. which is a good thing to do. b...Expand for more
ut spirituality involves your reltaionship with God. And that is between you and Him. so I will leave it there. To each his own and that's ok with me.
I did something that I thought I would never do. this may surprise you but I went into the military, 1984. US Army National Guard. My MOS was 67November - Huey Mechanic. I went to helicopter school down in Fort Rucker Alabama in the summer of 1985. Loved it. I got out three weeks before the start of Operation Desert Shield in 1990. I wanted to use my military experience to catapult me into a NASA career. I want(ed) to be an astronaut and fly and work on the ISS. I still do.
Another thing that may surprise you is that I found out I was a pretty good athlete. I played semi-pro football for three years around B-more back in the mid-70's and also played semi-pro softball (Browns Outlaws). Belmar, The Baltimore Warriors (Rash Field at the inner harbor was our home field) and The Dundalk Express. As a postal worker (1985 - 1989 but played on their teams until 1994), I joined their team and in the first year, we won the league championship. Our team, The Express, went on to win numerous flag football championships. I played wide receiver, tight end, linebacker.
I have five children. The oldest will be 32 this year and the youngest just turned 10. Three boys and two girls.
